Faces Behind Eastridge’s 40 Years of Success

SAN DIEGO, April 8, 2011—Ranked as one of the Top 100 U.S. Staffing Firms in both the public and private sectors, The Eastridge Group of Staffing Companies (Eastridge) has seen its share of successes in terms of accomplishments and statistics. However, the true measure of success is in the people Eastridge serves.
Its purpose is to provide people with opportunities and enrichment through work, which makes it no surprise that Eastridge’s unwavering dedication to clients and candidates has garnered quite a following of loyal supporters. Over nearly 40 years, this has led to incredible stories of perseverance, personal growth and development, such as those of Debbie Koontz, Amber Coleman and Jerry Frith.
In 1981, Debbie Koontz had just arrived in San Diego, having recently moved from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Despite being new to town, Koontz had the full support of her former boss, who described her as “an excellent worker” who “always took initiative.”
Debbie turned to Eastridge to help with her job search. Her “friendly and happy” personality and readiness to learn helped Eastridge place her as a receptionist at Sunroad Enterprises.
Today, 29 years later, Debbie is the Property Manager at Sunroad, managing San Diego office buildings for the multi-million dollar company. She hasn’t, however, forgotten the pivotal role Eastridge played in directing her professional career nearly three decades ago.
Debbie’s story only begins to illustrate Eastridge’s positive impact over the years. Just ask Amber Coleman.
Amber, currently a receptionist for ProCaps Laboratories in Las Vegas, has not always been so fortunate in terms of employment. In her previous position, Amber was abruptly laid off on a Friday afternoon.
Scared and fearful of being out of work, Amber immediately went to an Eastridge office near the Wendy’s where she had worked. The next morning, Amber received a phone call from Eastridge informing her of a possible job opening. That following Monday, just three days after being laid off, Amber was back to work as a receptionist for a leading dietary supplement manufacturer.
Now, 9 years later, Amber is still in the position she was placed by Eastridge. Despite offers to move within the company, Amber has remained in the role that brings out her warm personality and people skills. “I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to coming [to work] every single day,” Amber says. “Eastridge has made all the difference in my career!”
Debbie and Amber are examples of Eastridge’s ability to match candidates with wonderful opportunities. For Jerry Frith, the experience with Eastridge comes full circle.
In the fall of 1989, Jerry Frith had just left the military and was looking to enter the civilian workforce. After visiting several Orange County staffing firms, Jerry quickly found a job through Abbott, a division of Eastridge. Aware of Jerry’s background in accounting, he was placed with a rapidly growing commercial insurance financial company.
Today, 22 years later, Jerry remains in the insurance business. He has risen to become Vice President of AFS/IBEX Financial Services, Inc., a commercial insurance premium financial company that is licensed in over 32 states and is one of the largest privately held companies in the industry.
Today, Jerry is still involved with Abbott—not as a candidate, but as a client. Jerry has turned to Abbott to recruit talent for AFS/IBEX and has brought over more than a dozen people from Abbott since 1996. As he looks at the candidates he now recruits, Jerry cannot help but see himself in the same situation twenty-two years ago. Through his own story, Jerry sees the importance of looking for and bringing in potential, rather than focusing exclusively on experience.
With a tagline of “Opportunity and Enrichment Through Work,” Eastridge has proven itself through its 40 years of staffing operations. Debbie, Amber, and Jerry have all experienced tremendous opportunity and success by means of Eastridge’s services—in fact, they have a combined 50 years of work experience between them since their original placements. Along the way, the three have progressed both through title and character, living more enriched lives as a result.
