Staffing Company Provides Resources to Support EDGE and HAY Programs

SAN DIEGO, July 12,2011 — The Eastridge Group of Staffing Companies is pleased to announce its official support of two San Diego initiatives providing opportunities to young people, recent graduates and the unemployed.
As part of its community engagement philosophy, Eastridge provides intern matching services and payroll and back office support for participants in the highly-praised local HAY (Hire-A-Youth) and EDGE (Educating and Developing workers for the Green Economy) initiatives.
Seth Stein, Eastridge’s Executive VP for General Services, noted that the company’s mission was “to provide people with opportunity and enrichment through work. Our business is about connecting the best jobseekers to the right employers – our involvement with these great programs resonates with our purpose.”
HAY provides summer employment for low-income youth, jobs meant to help connect them to meaningful career pathways. The program is coordinated by the San Diego Workforce Partnership and has notable supporters like Qualcomm and Eastridge.
In its second year of involvement, Eastridge redoubled its support for HAY. In addition to the back office services Eastridge provides, the company offers counseling to participants in employment skills, such as interviewing strategies, resume writing and professional communication.
The EDGE Initiative seeks to train a new cadre of local workers primed for success within the biofuels and biotechnology sector. The program’s organizers include CleanTECH SD, BIOCOM, the BIOCOM Institute, the San Diego Economic Development Corporation, the San Diego Center for Algae Biotechnology, SDSU, MiraCosta College and the San Diego Workforce Partnership.
Eastridge will provide the back office services key to the successful rollout of the EDGE Initiative.
